Hi, I'm Vineet.

I live in Bangalore and build small apps under the name naxatar. Right now that's clippal, a text toolkit for macOS that keeps everything you copy and type in a searchable history, and Playlist Wrangler, a Chrome extension that makes YouTube playlists searchable.

Both started the same way: I needed something, looked for it, and couldn't find it built the way I wanted, so I wrote it. My friends and family use them now too.

If an app breaks, it broke for me first; I use them all day, every day. That's the whole quality process, and it works better than most.

What doesn't need to leave your machine never does: clippal's history lives on your Mac, Playlist Wrangler's index in your browser. No accounts, no lock-in. Backup and restore are plain files on your device — open them, edit them, point an AI at them — and you decide where they live, on your disk or in your own cloud. Your data can only be stolen from you; there's no server of mine to steal it from.

The apps are how I'd like them. I might even open-source them at some point.

The name is नक्षत्र — nakshatra, anglicised to naxatar. It means the constellations; here it's the small constellation of things I look after. It's also why the site looks the way it does.

If you use one of my apps, I'd like to hear from you — a bug, a suggestion, or a walkthrough if you're stuck. It doesn't have to be about the apps either; I'm always up for a chat. Everything you send lands with me, and I reply within a day on weekdays.

✦ Work

I take on a few client projects a year — the whole thing, or just the part you need. Most I build alone; for bigger ones I team up with people I've built with before. If you have something in mind — a project, or longer work — email me.

The apps themselves are free and stay free. I put a lot of solo hours into them, so if one has earned a place in your day, there's a Ko-fi.
