Privacy

Playlist Wrangler runs in your browser. Your YouTube data stays there.

At a glance

  • Your playlists, videos, channels and likes are stored in your browser and are never sent to naxatar.com.
  • Usage analytics are anonymous, contain no YouTube data, and can be switched off in Settings.
  • Everything the extension sends can be inspected in your own browser, in under a minute.

What stays on your device

Everything the extension reads from YouTube: playlist contents, video titles, channels, likes, categories and watch progress. It is stored in your browser’s local storage. There is no account, no sign-in and no copy on a server. Settings → Danger zone → Delete all data removes it.

The extension has access to youtube.com only.

What is sent to naxatar.com

  • An install id and the extension version. The id is random, generated on install, and tied to nothing about you. It lets a faulty release be withdrawn.
  • Usage counts. Event names such as “a playlist was scanned”, with your browser name and language. Never a title, a channel or a playlist. Switch them off under Settings → Privacy → Anonymous usage analytics.
  • What you type. A feedback message, or an email address for release notes. Sent only when you press Send.

Verify it yourself

Every request the extension makes on its own can be inspected in Chrome.

  1. 01 Open chrome://extensions, turn on Developer mode, and click service worker under Playlist Wrangler.
  2. 02 Select the Network tab in the DevTools window that opens.
  3. 03 Use YouTube and the panel. Each request appears there with its full contents.

Read the code

The package contains the compiled code, minified but not obfuscated. In Chrome, the Sources tab of the same DevTools window lists every file in it. In Firefox, the package can be downloaded from the add-on’s listing on addons.mozilla.org: See all versions → Download file. It is a zip archive. Read it, or give it to an AI assistant and ask what it sends.

Source code

Playlist Wrangler is not open source.

  • Everything that is free today stays free.
  • A paid tier for new features is planned. That plan is why the code is not public.
  • If development ever stops, the source code will be released.
